Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited is situated in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality. Over these years, the Company has been involved in developing human capital among other things in giving back to the society. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility to the community, the company is not only investing in human capital but also the physical infrastructure. For this reason, the Company and its Shareholders saw the need to construct a durable concrete access road to provide ease and convenience in movement for the people of Kpone.
Saturday September 1 2018, a brief ground breaking ceremony was held to commence work on the second phase of the 4 kilometre long access road which is predominantly in the community. The road extends from the Pentecost Junction of the Kpone main road to the end of the existing concrete road 500 meters from the Gospel Junction.
The Manklalo (Traditional Leader) of the Kpone traditional area performed some rites before the Honourable Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Ishmael Ashittey, officially broke grounds for work to begin. Present at the ceremony was, Chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, Mr. Li Xiaohai the initiator of the project. The Chief Executive of Kpone –Katamanso Municipal Assembly, Mr. Solomon Appiah and his team including the Urban Roads Engineer Miss Kabuki Adjonyoh; Paramount Chief of Kpone, Nii Tetteh Otu II and some Chiefs from the Kpone Traditional Council; and some residents from the community.
Coincidentally, the annual Homowo festival which is very significant to the people of Kpone was ongoing. It was said that it is arguably the best time to start the project since it is assumed that the period is accompanied with good fortune and bounty harvest of food.
It is expected that construction will be completed in 90 days.
