GROUP CHAIRMAN OF SHENZHEN ENERGY GROUP, CHAIRMAN XIONG MEETS VICE PRESIDENT OF GHANA, DR MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA
Chairman Xiong Peijin, group Chairman of Shenzhen Energy group, which is the parent company of Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited, Li Ming, vice president of Shenzhen Energy group with 3 other high level delegation visited Ghana for the first time for a one (1) week business trip from 21st October 2019 to 25th October 2019.
Chairman Xiong and his delegation came to Ghana to discuss more investment opportunities in the Energy sector. While in Ghana, they paid a courtesy call on the Vice President, H.E. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. They were accompanied by Togbe Afede, President of the National House of Chiefs.
At the meeting, Chairman Xiong thanked the Vice President and his government for their continued support to Sunon Asogli Power. He also mentioned that Sunon Asogli Power was the first IPP both China and Shenzhen Energy invested, constructed and operated in Ghana and this project has been the hub for further investments in Africa. He further spoke on the future plans of Shenzhen Energy Group to invest more in Ghana’s energy sector especially in the fields of clean coal power, wind energy and solar energy and hopes for government’s support.
H. E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also reflected on his first visit to Shenzhen Energy in 2016 where they had an amicable discussion on the economic developments of Ghana. He said the investments the group made in Ghana in times of difficulty always supported Ghana’s economic development. He stated that the China-Ghana friendship is profound and both countries have always maintained friendly relations. He hinted that the investment prospects in Ghana are promising especially in terms of clean energy and renewable energy and will look forward to supporting Shenzhen Energy Group to reinvest in Ghana.
Chairman Xiong, Vice President Li Ming and their team earlier that day met with the Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon William Owuraku Aidoo and his team. This meeting was to discuss Shenzhen Energy’s investments and assistance in other projects in Ghana’s energy sector.
