Sunon Asogli Power Receives Clean Energy Initiative of the Year at the Ghana Energy Awards 2022

The 2022 edition of the Ghana Energy Awards was held on Friday, 25th November 2022. The event brought together industry leaders and honoured 31 individuals and institutions that have contributed to the growth of Ghana’s energy industry.

Sunon Asogli Power won the award for “Clean Energy Initiative of the Year” at the 6th GEA, which was themed “Global Decarbonisation: A Just and Equitable Energy Transition in Ghana.” SAP is the first to receive this honor. The award recognizes the company’s efforts to incorporate renewable energy into Ghana’s energy mix, thereby promoting a just and equitable energy transition.

The company has made efforts to include solar power in its generation which is being used internally. The company, however, is expanding to include a Solar Power plant, and a wind farm to its generation.

The event was graced by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam; and several members from the diplomatic court.
