Shenzhen Energy Group Chairman, Mr. Ouyang Huiyu Pays Courtesy Call on the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang
Sunon Asogli Power was honored to host a high-level delegation led by the Group Chairman of Shenzhen Energy Group, Mr. Ouyang Huiyu during their official visit to Ghana. The visit underscored the commitment of Shenzhen Energy Group to further investments in the country.
As part of the visit, the delegation, also accompanied by Toge Afede XIV, Agbogbomafia of Asogli State and Mr. Yang Qun, Chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. The meeting, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, focused on key areas of collaboration aimed at expanding Sunon Asogli Power’s footprint in Ghana’s energy sector, the significance of Ghana-China bilateral relations, and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the capacity of the local workforce and addressing critical challenges in the industry.

During the meeting, the Vice President emphasized the critical role of energy in Ghana’s economic transformation and expressed appreciation for Sunon Asogli Power’s contributions to the country’s energy stability. She reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment for foreign investments, particularly in the energy sector. Mr. Ouyang Huiyu, in turn, expressed Shenzhen Energy’s dedication to further investing in Ghana’s energy sector, particularly in renewable energy projects, to ensure sustainable and reliable power supply.
Mr. Ouyang Huiyu highlighted the bilateral relationship between Ghana and China, which has been a cornerstone of mutual growth and development. Both parties acknowledged the importance of maintaining and strengthening these ties, particularly in the energy sector, where Chinese expertise and investment have played a transformative role.
Togbe Afede also stated the critical need for training and retraining of local staff to enhance their technical and managerial capabilities. Mr. Huiyu reaffirmed the company’s dedication to knowledge transfer, citing Sunon Asogli Power as one of the most successful One-Belt One-Road projects, which has facilitated the exchange of technical expertise between China and Ghana.
Additionally, the Vice President highlighted the importance of empowering women in the energy industry and made a suggestion to the delegation to select some women engineers to be trained in their facilities in China. Shenzhen Energy Group expressed its commitment to supporting the training of Ghanaian women engineers in China, providing them with opportunities to enhance their technical expertise and leadership skills thereby bridging the gender gap in the energy sector and empower women to take on leadership roles in the industry.
The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of both parties’ commitment to deepening cooperation, expanding investment opportunities, and fostering sustainable energy development in Ghana and beyond. Sunon Asogli Power remains dedicated to playing a pivotal role in Ghana’s energy landscape, ensuring efficient and reliable power generation to support the nation’s growth.
