Minister of Energy of Burkina Faso pays a courtesy visit to Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited Company

On March 16, 2025, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, and the Director General of SONABEL, Souleymane Ouedrago, led a delegation to visit Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited Company. The delegates were warmly received by the General Manager, Mr. Wang Jinxiao and other memebrs of his management team. Mr. Wang expressed his profound appreciation for the visit.

The parties engaged in productive discussions on regional power cooperation in West Africa and the sustainable development of Burkina Faso’s electricity sector. In his remarks, Minister Yacouba Zabré Gouba acknowledged the severity of the electricity shortage in his country and emphasised that the Burkinabé government has introduced a comprehensive energy policy to reduce the country’s reliance on external power sources gradually.

On his part, General Manager Wang provided an overview of Sunon Asogli’s operations, its development history, and Shenzhen Energy Group’s business presence. He thanked Minister Yacouba Zabré Gouba and Director General Souleymane Ouedrago for their continuous support. Mr. Wang also reaffirmed the support of Shenzhen Energy Group in advancing the sustainable growth of Burkina Faso’s power sector and improving the well-being of its people.

Minister Yacouba Zabré Gouba and his delegation also took a tour of the power plant. Minister Yacouba Zabré Gouba commended the company’s success in local operations and expressed optimism for enhanced collaboration in cross-border electricity trade, new project development, and other key initiatives to address Burkina Faso’s growing electricity demand.
