Sunon Asogli Power has once again demonstrated its commitment to building strong partnerships and encouraging healthy lifestyles through sports. On 7th June 2025, the company hosted a friendly tennis tournament between Sunon Asogli Power and the VRA Tennis club. The tournament was held at Sunon Asogli Power’s tennis court in Kpone.

The event, held under the theme “Building Bonds Beyond Power: Unity Through Sport,” provided a refreshing platform for industry colleagues to engage in friendly competition while strengthening the spirit of collaboration among the three key players in Ghana’s energy sector.

The day started with a relaxed breakfast session, giving participants and guests the chance to settle in, reconnect, and prepare for the exciting matches ahead.

Mr. Kwame Wang, chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, gave a welcome speech to formally kick off the event, stressing the importance of forming connections outside of the office. “As much as we are connected by the work we do, we must also make time to connect as people. Sport allows us to do just that- to build trust, encourage teamwork, and promote well-being,” he said.

The patron of the VRA Tennis Club, Ing. Amoako Baah highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the companies and the importance of maintaining such bonds through tennis. After his remarks, Dr. Eric Borbi, president of the VRA Tennis Club, also gave a short but impactful speech. He echoed the theme of the tournament and spoke about the importance of tennis as a form of exercise.

The matches began with a competition between Chairman Kwame Wang and Dr. Eric Borbi. The matches that followed were highly competitive yet friendly, as teams from Sunon Asogli Power and the VRA tennis club battled it out in good spirits. The energy on the court was matched by the enthusiastic support from the sidelines, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

The day ended with a lunch and networking session, allowing everyone to relax, reflect, and enjoy the opportunity to build even stronger personal and professional connections.

The success of this event is a testament to Sunon Asogli Power’s continued effort to create meaningful engagement opportunities that go beyond daily operations. The company looks forward to hosting more events like this, where sports and teamwork bring people together in ways that benefit both individuals and the wider energy community.
