Sunon Asogli Power Honored for Excellence in Power Generation at the 2025 Ghana Energy Awards

Sunon Asogli Power wins the Excellence in Power Generation Award at the 2025 Ghana Energy Awards. The ceremony was held on Friday, 28 November 2025, at the Labadi Beach Hotel and drew distinguished personalities from across the energy industry. The Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, attended as the special guest of honor, along with several key leaders and stakeholders in the sector.

Chairman Kwame Wang received the award on behalf of the company. In his acceptance remark, he thanked the organizers and acknowledged the hard work of the Sunon Asogli Power team. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Ghana’s energy development and shared that Sunon Asogli Power is advancing further investments, including the planned expansion of the thermal plant to include a Phase III and a series of renewable power projects. He added that these projects reflect the company’s long-term vision of supporting a cleaner and more resilient energy future for Ghana. Also in attendance from Sunon Asogli Power was the General Manager, Mr. Zhang Jinsong.

This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to providing reliable, efficient, and responsible power for Ghana’s growth. It also acknowledges the dedication of our staff, whose efforts sustain our operations each year.

Speaking at the event, energy expert Kwame Jantuah, who serves as the board chair of the awarding panel, noted that the Ghana Energy Awards has become a cornerstone of excellence. He emphasized the strong link between the power and petroleum sectors and explained that this year’s theme underscored the industry’s role in national development. He added that the nomination committee focused on both operational excellence and strategic leadership across 26 competitive categories.

Hon. Gyan-Mensah also addressed the audience. He acknowledged that the sector has faced difficult challenges in recent years but shared that the past ten months have shown clear progress. According to him, the sector has become more stable as the Ministry, with the support of the Presidency, continues working to position energy as a pillar of national development. He stressed the responsibility to keep the lights on, restore confidence in the petroleum sector, and modernize systems. He also encouraged industry players to share ideas and constructive feedback as the country works toward a more resilient future.
