On Friday, 26 June 2026, Sunon Asogli Power held its annual Outstanding Employee Awards Ceremony to recognise and celebrate Ghanaian employees who demonstrated outstanding performance, professionalism, continuous improvement, and dedication in their respective roles in 2025.
The event brought together management and staff in a celebration of excellence, reaffirming the company’s commitment to recognising hard work while inspiring every employee to strive for greater achievements.
This year’s ceremony reflected the growing culture of excellence within the company, with 45 employees acknowledged, a significant increase from the 15 awardees honoured last year. The increase demonstrates that the initiative is achieving its purpose of inspiring employees to work harder, pursue excellence, and make meaningful contributions to the company’s success.
The 45 employees were honoured across six award categories: Outstanding Contribution Award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Distinguished Employee Award, Best Newcomer Award, and Progress Encouragement Award.
The General Manager, Mr. Zhang Jinsong, in his welcome address, congratulated the award recipients and commended all employees for their unwavering commitment throughout the year. He acknowledged that the achievements being celebrated were the result of the dedication, innovation, and teamwork demonstrated across every department.

Delivering the keynote address, the chairman, Mr. Kwame Wang, described the Outstanding Employee Awards as an important initiative that has become part of Sunon Asogli Power’s culture since its introduction last year. He noted that the awards were established to motivate excellence, reward commitment, and encourage employees to consistently give their best. He emphasised that the company’s success in power generation, operational excellence, safety management, and business growth is driven by the dedication of its workforce. He further explained that the award recipients were selected through a rigorous and transparent evaluation process based on merit, performance, integrity, and overall impact.
Mr. Kwame Wang encouraged all employees to view the awards not only as recognition for the recipients but also as motivation to continue working with discipline, consistency, and purpose.
Touching on the company’s future, the chairman reaffirmed Sunon Asogli Power’s commitment to growth through the ongoing Phase III Expansion Project. He recalled a previous engagement during the Phase II sod-cutting ceremony at Sentuo Oil Refinery, where he had the opportunity to discuss the Phase III project with the president of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, who was happy to hear about the project.
He stressed that while 45 employees were being recognised, every staff member plays an indispensable role in the company’s success. He encouraged employees who were not recognised this year to remain committed, assuring them that every contribution is valued and that excellence is always acknowledged.

Dr. Elikplim Apetorgbor, the Gold Award recipient, gave an accepting speech on behalf of all the awardees and encouraged employees as the company continues its journey of growth and excellence.
Beyond recognising outstanding performance, the event served as a reminder that excellence is built through consistency, dedication, teamwork, and continuous improvement. While the award recipients were celebrated for their remarkable achievements, the ceremony also reinforced that every employee has the opportunity to be recognised through commitment and perseverance.
