Sunon Asogli Power Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026
Sunon Asogli Power marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a meaningful and inspiring celebration that brought together staff across the company to honour the women who contribute daily to the organisation’s growth and success. Held on Thursday, 5 March 2026, the event highlighted the strength, resilience, and dedication of the women within Sunon Asogli Power. It was a moment to pause, appreciate, and reaffirm the company’s commitment to creating an environment where women can thrive and lead. This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Together We Rise: Women in Power,” #Givetogain.
The programme began with a warm welcome address from the general manager, Mr. Zhang Jinsong, who expressed appreciation for the remarkable contributions of women across all departments of the company. He acknowledged that behind the smooth operations of the plant and offices are women who bring professionalism, commitment, and quiet strength to their roles every day.
The leaders of the Sunon Asogli Power Women’s Association, Doris and Alva, followed with a heartfelt speech that encouraged women to continue supporting one another, pursuing growth, and embracing the opportunities before them. Their speeches reflected the unity and strength of the association and the important role it plays in building community within the organisation. They encouraged the women not to shrink themselves but embrace their power.

The keynote address was delivered by the Chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, Mr. Kwame Wang, who reminded staff that empowering women is not only the right thing to do but also essential for building stronger organisations and communities. He noted that when women are given equal opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed, everyone gains, the family gains, the company gains, and the society gains.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the recognition of five exceptional women whose dedication and impact stood out over the past year. The Outstanding Women of the Year awards were presented to Mrs. Khadija Torbay Lartey, Mrs. Rhodaline Botchway, Miss Han Mengya, Mrs. Yin Defen, and Mrs. Nafisa Jack. Each of these women has demonstrated excellence in her field, contributing significantly to the company’s progress while serving as an inspiration to colleagues around them.
Beyond celebrating achievements within the company, the Women’s Association also used the occasion to extend its impact to the wider community. As part of this year’s initiative, the association announced plans to donate boxes of sanitary towels to three public schools in the surrounding community. The donations were made possible through contributions from female staff members, with strong support from their male colleagues. The gesture aims to help address a challenge faced by many schoolgirls and to ensure that menstrual health does not become a barrier to education.
The celebration ended on a note of pride and unity, reminding everyone present that the strength of Sunon Asogli Power lies in the people who power it. The women of the company, the engineers, administrators, technicians, and support staff continue to play a vital role in shaping the company’s success story.
As the theme of the celebration echoed throughout the event, one message stood out clearly: when women rise, we all rise together.
