As part of its ongoing commitment to workplace safety, Sunon Asogli Power successfully conducted a fire evacuation drill for its office building on 18 June 2026 at 3:30 p.m. The exercise involved all 115 office staff and was aimed at strengthening fire safety awareness, improving emergency response capabilities, and testing the effectiveness of the company’s fire protection systems and emergency procedures.

The drill served as a practical test of the company’s preparedness in handling fire-related emergencies. It focused on key emergency response procedures, including fire alarm reporting, activation of the emergency command system, coordinated on-site response, and safe evacuation. The objective was to ensure that emergency response goes beyond written procedures and becomes a practical skill employees can confidently apply during real-life incidents.

To ensure smooth execution, the company established a dedicated emergency drill task force with a clear command structure and defined responsibilities. The Production Safety Leader served as the overall commander, while the heads of the HSE and administration departments acted as deputy commanders. Five functional teams were formed to manage critical aspects of the exercise: Security and Evacuation, Fire Response, Personnel Accounting, Logistics Support, and Publicity and Documentation.

Each group had clearly defined responsibilities, ensuring efficient coordination throughout the drill. Safety officers from all departments participated fully, further strengthening the multi-layered safety responsibility network.

At the signal of the Overall Commander, smoke was released at two simulated fire locations, one on the first floor and another in the east section of the third floor, triggering the building’
s fire alarm system and officially commencing the drill.

Once the alarm sounded, the emergency command system was activated immediately. The Fire Response Team swiftly moved to assess the simulated fire locations, while other teams responded according to the emergency plan. The response was prompt, coordinated, and efficiently executed.

Under the guidance of the Security and Evacuation Team, all employees evacuated calmly and in an orderly manner. Staff followed standard safety procedures by bending low and covering their noses and mouths. They moved through designated stairways and assembled safely at the mustering point located at the main exit on the first floor. Floor guides remained stationed at strategic points to ensure evacuation routes stayed clear and safe throughout the exercise.

At the assembly area, departments quickly organized their teams for headcount verification. The Personnel Accounting Team, together with departmental safety officers, conducted a thorough roll call using attendance records to ensure every individual was accounted for. The process was completed efficiently, with all staff safely accounted for.

Overall, the drill was successful. It demonstrated the effectiveness of Sunon Asogli Power’s emergency management system and reflected the strong safety consciousness of its employees. The exercise achieved its intended purpose of testing emergency procedures, strengthening team coordination, and improving emergency response capability.

Following the drill, an evaluation session was held to review performance and identify areas for improvement. Key recommendations included strengthening fire safety awareness across all departments, conducting regular emergency training and drills, improving evacuation routes and command systems, and enhancing support for personnel with special needs during emergencies.

At Sunon Asogli Power, safety remains a core priority. This fire evacuation drill was not only a test of preparedness but also an important step in reinforcing a culture of safety across the organization. The company remains committed to continuously improving its safety management systems, conducting regular training, and building a stronger safety foundation to support sustainable and high-quality operations.
