To mark May Day, Sunon Asogli Power hosted its inaugural Family Open Day, bringing together staff and their families for a day of engagement and appreciation. The event went beyond commemorating the public holiday, serving as a meaningful opportunity to recognize the dedication and contributions of employees.

The programme opened with a welcome address by the general manager, Mr. Zhang Jinsong, who warmly received attendees and acknowledged the commitment and hard work of staff across the organization.

This was followed by remarks from the chairman, Mr. Kwame Wang, who spoke on the significance of the event for both employees and their families. He emphasized the value of creating moments that strengthen family bonds and highlighted the positive influence such experiences can have on children. He noted that initiatives like this can inspire the younger generation and build their confidence by exposing them to their parents’
work environment.

A key highlight of the day was a guided tour of the plant. Families were given insight into the power generation process. The tour also included a visit to the control room, where guests interacted with engineers and gained a better understanding of plant operations. The experience concluded at the newly installed Solar EV charging station.

In addition to the tour, the event featured a variety of recreational activities for both adults and children. Families enjoyed indoor games such as table tennis and PlayStation, as well as outdoor activities including basketball. Children were especially engaged with the range of fun activities organized for them. Refreshments were provided throughout the day, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.

By the close of the event, the impact was evident. Families who previously had limited insight into the nature of their loved ones’
work left with a clearer understanding and deeper appreciation. Children departed inspired and excited, while staff felt genuinely valued, not only as employees but as individuals whose contributions matter.
