Sunon Asogli Power has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (HESS), emerging as one of the top-performing organisations at the 2026 Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (HESS) Awards held on Friday, 26th June 2026, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The company received three prestigious awards in recognition of its performance and commitment to operational excellence. The honours included the Power/Energy Generation Facility Excellence Award, Best Company in Fire Safety and Security Management Practices Award, and the Best Company in Energy and Water Conservation Practices Award. These achievements reflect Sunon Asogli Power’s dedication to maintaining high standards of workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and operational reliability.

The HESS Awards is Ghana’s premier awards platform dedicated exclusively to recognising excellence in occupational health, environmental management, workplace safety, and security. Since its inception in 2018, the awards have celebrated organisations and individuals whose efforts continue to strengthen Ghana’s health, environmental safety, and security culture while promoting safer, healthier, and more sustainable workplaces. Now in its eighth edition, the HESS Awards continue to encourage organisations to go beyond meeting regulatory requirements by making health, environmental safety, and security a priority in everything they do.
The event brought together distinguished leaders from government, regulatory institutions, and industry to celebrate organisations that are setting benchmarks in HESS performance. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Professor Jacob Annan, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga, and the Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, Mr. John Kingsley Armah. Also present were the chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, the general manager, members of staff, and representatives from several organisations across Ghana.
In his remarks, Professor Jacob Annan commended organisations and individuals whose commitment to health, safety, environmental protection, and security continues to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s national development. Throughout the event, speakers reinforced the importance of building strong workplace cultures where every employee takes ownership of safety, with the shared view that employees must be empowered to commit to a healthy safety culture.
The Chairman of Sunon Asogli Power, Mr. Kwame Wang, proudly received the awards on behalf of the company. In his acceptance remarks, he expressed sincere appreciation to the organizers for the recognition and dedicated the awards to the employees whose professionalism, discipline, and commitment to safe working practices continue to drive the company’s success. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuously improving its HESS standards and contributing to a safer and more sustainable energy sector.

These awards serve as another important milestone in Sunon Asogli Power’s journey towards operational excellence. As Sunon Asogli Power continues to grow, it remains focused on fostering a workplace where health, safety, environmental responsibility, and security are integral to every aspect of its operations.
