As part of its commitment to supporting national development and strengthening public institutions, Sunon Asogli Power has donated GHS100,000 to the Ghana Police Service to support the construction of a multipurpose detention centre at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.
The donation was presented on Monday, 6 July 2026, during a brief ceremony at the CID headquarters. The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor; Deputy Director-General of the CID, DCOP Mr S. A. Ayawine; Dir./Admin. ACP Mr James Osei Acheampong; and ASP Mr Kofi Atimbre received the cheque on behalf of the Ghana Police Service. COP Lydia Yaako Donkor expressed appreciation to the company for its timely support. She added that the multipurpose detention centre is being constructed to address longstanding infrastructure challenges at the CID headquarters that have impacted criminal investigations and related operations. The facility is expected to enhance the CID’s operational capacity by providing a modern and secure environment for detention and investigative processes.

Presenting the donation, the Chairman of Sunon Asogli Power reaffirmed the company’s belief that national development extends beyond the provision of reliable electricity. He reiterated that infrastructure challenges have placed pressure on operations and, understandably, affected certain aspects of criminal investigations, and the company is doing its part in addressing these challenges.
Chairman Wang commends the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and the CID for identifying and pursuing this important project and their commitment to strengthening investigative capacity and improving operational standards. He further encouraged greater collaboration between the private sector and public institutions to advance initiatives that benefit the nation.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, the Director-General of the CID expressed gratitude to Sunon Asogli Power for the generous contribution and commended the company for demonstrating corporate leadership through meaningful support for national security.

The donation forms part of Sunon Asogli Power’s broader corporate social responsibility, which focuses on supporting initiatives that create lasting value for communities and the nation. Over the years, the company has partnered with stakeholders across Ghana in the areas of education, healthcare, community development, environmental sustainability and public safety.
